King Shaka International Airport, owned and operated by Airports Company South Africa, is a new generation airport.
The airport has a 3.7km runway - the longest sea-level runway in South Africa - that is capable of accomodating the world’s largest aircraft. It has two rapid taxi-ways and the capacity to handle 23 air traffic movements per hour. King Shaka International Airport has the capacity to handle 7.5 million passengers per annum in its first phase, expanding to 45 million by the last phase of development.
